All-around competition concluded in the 2009 Rhythmic National Qualifier at the Plainfield Recreation and Aquatic Center in Plainfield, Ind., with 45 tickets booked to the 2009 Visa Championships, taking place Aug. 12-15 in Dallas, Texas.

Winning the junior all-around competition with a score of 94.35, Rebecca Sereda of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora cemented one of 25 junior qualifying positions. Jazzy Kerber of Highland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center finished second with 91.5, and Shelby Kisiel of Missouri City, Texas/North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center finished third with 89.20. Alexis Page of New York, N.Y./Aviator Sports and Recreation and Olga Pavlenko of Flushing, N.Y./Isadora rounded out the top five with all-around totals of 86.325 and 86.10.

Julie Zetlin of Bethesda, Md./Rhythmflex won the senior all-around and one of 20 qualifying spots with a combined score of 96.15. JoAnna Arnold of Evanston, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center finished second with 87.25. Anastasia Torba of Orinda, Calif./Allegro Rhythmics earned 86.975, finishing third. Claire Skach of Portland, Ore./Westside Dance and Gymnastics Academy and Michelle Milstein of Eagan, Minn./International Gymnastics of Minnesota finished fourth and fifth with scores of 85.85 and 85.65, respectively.

The top 25 juniors and 20 seniors in ranking order earned berths to the 2009 Visa Championships. Those gymnasts who did not compete in the 2009 Rhythmic National Qualifier may petition for inclusion following the rules and policies of the rhythmic gymnastics program if they have recorded one equal to or greater than qualifying score during the 2009 season and meet one of three requirement: injured at the time of competition, recently competed in an international competition, or currently a member of the U.S. Rhythmic National Team.

About
The 2009 Visa Championships, USA Gymnastics’ national championships, are Aug. 12-15 in Dallas, Texas. The U.S. champions for men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, acrobatic gymnastics and trampoline and tumbling are determined at the Visa Championships. Artistic gymnastics will be held at American Airlines Center, with rhythmic and acrobatic gymnastics and trampoline and tumbling at the Dallas Convention Center. The USA Gymnastics National Congress and Trade Show, held in conjunction with the Visa Championships, will also be at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel.
