CALI, Colombia (April 23, 2024) – American athletes won 20 medals, half of them gold, on the last day of trampoline and rhythmic action for a total of 25 at the 2024 Pacific Rim Championships in Cali, Colombia, Tuesday evening.

American rhythmic gymnasts dominate apparatus finals

On the final day of rhythmic competition, the Americans swept the apparatus podiums in both senior and junior divisions. After winning senior all-around gold on Monday, Megan Chu (San Diego, Calif./Pacific Stars Rhythmic Academy) won gold on hoop (33.150), clubs (32.700) and ribbon (29.600) and silver on ball (31.200). The junior all-around champion, Natalia de la Rosa (Woodland Hills, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics), won gold on ball (29.800) and ribbon (29.550) and silver (30.300) on clubs.

Also winning medals for the seniors was Jaelyn Chin (Aventura, Fla./Bessonova’s school) with gold on ball (31.750) and silver on hoop (33.150) and clubs (32.250), and Yana Golovan (Las Vegas, Nev./Nevada Rhythmic Academy) with silver on ribbon (28.450). Juniors Isabella Chong (Mission Viejo, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics) took the junior hoop (30.300) and clubs (30.300) titles, and Dawn Kim (San Diego, Calif./Pacific Stars Rhythmic Academy) earned silver on ball (28.850) and ribbon (27.500). All ties were broken by the athlete with the higher execution score.

Trampoline athletes claim gold, silver and bronze

Alexander Rozenshteyn (Cranford, N.J./Elite Trampoline Academy), Grace Danley (Millstone, N.J./Garden State Trampoline Academy) and Ryan Maccagnan (Colorado Springs, Colo./Stars Gymnastics) each claimed a gold, silver and bronze medal, respectively, in junior and senior trampoline competition on Tuesday. Rozenshteyn posted a 52.010 in the junior men’s division to win gold ahead of host country Colombia’s Gabriel Pinzon (49.910). Danley won silver among the junior women with a 49.100, landing just behind Amylia Lepore of Canada in first with a 49.300. Canada’s Brooklyn Lee-McMeeken was third with a 34.650.

Maccagnan won a medal for the U.S. seniors, scoring a 57.800 overall to claim bronze behind Japan’s Ryosuke Sakai (58.670) and Yusei Mastumoto (58.290). The U.S. women’s team of Danley, Alexandra Mytnik (Manalapan, N.J./Elite Trampoline Academy), Ava DeHanes (Holmdel, N.J./Elite Trampoline Academy) and Leah Edelman (Holmdel, N.J./Elite Trampoline Academy) also secured team gold with a combined score of 304.120 ahead of Canada (284.000) and Colombia (243.960). The men’s team of Maccagnan, Rozenshteyn, Nate Erkert (Wildwood, Mo./Elite Trampoline Academy) and Elijah Vogel (Longmont, Colo./Xtreme Altitude Gymnastics) won team bronze with a 193.800 behind Japan (326.600) and Colombia (254.520).

Erkert and Mytnik were both fourth in the junior men’s (6.030) and women’s (21.590) finals. DeHanes and Edelman ranked fourth (52.180) and fifth (50.560) in the senior women’s final.
