INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Sept. 7, 2011 – USA Gymnastics has named 22 athletes to the 2011-12 Trampoline and Tumbling Olympic Development Program (ODP) Team. The team, composed of Level 9 and 10 athletes, will represent the United States in an international exchange in early December at the National Training Center in Huntsville, Texas.
Sixty athletes and their coaches took part in last week’s selection camp, which concluded Sunday (Sept. 4) with a competition to help determine the team. The athletes also participated in several training sessions led by the national team staff, including a special session featuring special guest coaches from the U.S. national team, who were on hand at the Training Center in preparation for the 2011 Salzgitter World Cup event in Salzgitter, Germany. On the final evening of the ODP camp, national team members signed autographs and spoke with the Junior Olympic athletes.
"This year’s ODP camp was a tremendous success," Susan Jacobson, USA Gymnastics trampoline and tumbling program director, said. "We would like to offer our thanks and appreciation to Shaun Kempton, Tatiana Kovaleva, Joy Umenhofer, Mig Ohara, Kendra Cendana, Nancy Cummings, Gary Warren and the fabulous staff at the Training Center that makes the experience awesome every time."
"Also, a big thanks to our friends at Hilton for their incredible generosity in the upgrades to the living space at the Ranch. The new furnishings, linens and toiletries were enjoyed by all," Jacobson added.
