GUADALAJARA, Spain, May 4, 2019 — Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill./ North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, will compete in the hoop, ball and clubs, and Nastasya Generalova of Los Angeles/California Rhythms, in the ribbon event finals on the final day of the Guadalajara (Spain) World Challenge Cup at the Guadalajara Multipurpose Pavillon. The U.S. group advanced to the 5 balls and 3 hoops/4 clubs finals. Competition concludes tomorrow with the event finals. U.S. based fans can watch the event finals live on OlympicChannel.com at 9 a.m. ET, as well as tape-delayed on the Olympic Channel at 4 p.m. ET, with a simulcast.

In the all-around, Zeng was sixth at 75.000 and Generalova tallied a 71.250 for 11th. Russia’s Aleksandra Soldatova and her teammate Ekaterina Selezneva captured the gold (84.000) and silver (80.850) medals, respectively, with Italy’s Alexandra Agiurgiuculese taking the bronze (77.300).

In the clubs qualification, Zeng posted a 19.300 for seventh place and a trip to the final. Generalova earned an 18.550 for ninth and the first reserve spot. For ribbon, Generalova claimed a 17.600 for fifth and to advance to the final, with Zeng’s 16.400 landing her in ninth and the first reserve place. Soldatova had the top score for clubs (21.550) and Selezneva garnered the highest ribbon mark (18.750).

In the all-around, the U.S. group finished sixth (40.950). Italy had the highest mark at 50.250, followed by Bulgaria (49.100) and Russia (46.950). In the 3 hoops/4 clubs qualification round, the U.S. group posted a 19.800 for seventh place and a trip to the final. Bulgaria had the top 3 hoops/4 clubs qualifying score (26.200). The members of the U.S. group, which trains at North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, are Isabelle Connor of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; Connie Du of Deerfield, Ill.; Yelyzaveta Merenzon of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; Elizaveta Pletneva of Deerfield, Ill.; Nicole Sladkov of Vernon Hills, Ill.; and Kristina Sobolevskaya of Chicago.

Event finals on May 5 begin at 3 p.m. (hoop, ball, 5 balls, clubs, ribbon, and 3 hoops/4 clubs. All times are local to Guadalajara, which is six hours ahead of U.S. Eastern time. The event does have live scoring.
