INDIANAPOLIS, May 7, 2021 – Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center sits ninth in the all-around competition after Day 1 of the Baku (Azerbaijan) World Cup. Her seventh-place finish on hoop (23.800) has qualified her to the apparatus final on Sunday. Zeng posted a 24.050 on ball for a combined 47.850. Teammate Evita Griskenas of Orland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center is 17th with a 45.425. Griskenas was 15th on hoop (22.525) and 22nd on ball (22.900).

The Senior National Group made its 2021 international debut earning a 31.600 in the five ball competition. The team, comprised of Izzy Connor of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Camilla Feeley of Wheeling, Ill., Liza Merenzon of Buffalo Grove, Ill., Lili Mizuno of Northbrook, Ill., Elizaveta Pletneva of Wheeling, Ill., and Nicole Sladkov of Vernon Hills, Ill., is 16th with the three hoops and two pairs of clubs competition remaining.

Russia’s Lala Kramarenko posted the day’s high score on ball (27.700) and leads the all-around after two apparatus with a 51.500. Daria Trubnikova, also from Russia, was tops on hoop with a 25.600. Bulgaria’s 45.550 led all groups.
