HUNTSVILLE, Texas, May 5, 2014 – The U.S. women’s national team camp for May, led by National Team Coordinator Martha Karolyi, wrapped up Sunday at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, an official U.S. Olympic training site, near Huntsville, Texas.

“It was an excellent working training camp,” said Karolyi. “The gymnasts worked on new skill acquisition and upgrading start values without neglecting the importance of execution and artistry.”

After a successful start to 2014 – highlighted by team and all-around wins at both the Jesolo Trophy competition and Pacific Rim Championships – the focus of the five day camp was preparing for upcoming competitions, including the Secret U.S. Classic (Chicago, Aug. 2), the P&G Gymnastics Championships (Pittsburg, Pa., Aug. 21-24), the Senior Pan American Championships (Toronto, Canada, Aug. 29-Sept. 1), and the World Championships (Nanning, China, Oct. 3-12). Athletes worked on finalizing routine construction for those events with special attention paid to balance beam connections and dance/artistry training.
