HUNTSVILLE, Texas, Oct. 23, 2014 – The U.S. Women’s National Team camp for October begins today at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, an official U.S. Olympic training site, near Huntsville, Texas. The five-day camp concludes Monday, Oct. 27.

National Team Coordinator Martha Karolyi, who helped guide Team USA to seven women’s medals at the recent World Championships, including the team and all-around golds, will lead the camp. The goals of the camp are improving physical abilities, new skill acquisition, routine reconstruction for the 2015 season, all with an emphasis on dance training. There will also be informational sessions for athletes and coaching discussing trends in the Code of Points based on the recent World Championships.

The members of the 2014 World Championships gold medal winning team (Alyssa Baumann of Plano, Texas/WOGA; Simone Biles of Spring, Texas/World Champions Centre; Madison Desch of Blue Springs, Mo./GAGE; Madison Kocian of Dallas/WOGA; Ashton Locklear of Huntersville, N.C./Everest Gymnastics; Kyla Ross of Aliso Viejo, Calif./Gym-Max; and MyKayla Skinner of Gilbert, Ariz./Desert Lights) are not scheduled to attend the camp.

2012 Olympic gold medalists Gabrielle Douglas of Virginia Beach, Va./Buckeye Gymnastics, and Aly Raisman of Needham, Mass., will be at the training camp. This is the first camp for Raisman since winning two gold medals (team, floor exercise) and one bronze medal (balance beam) at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
