HUNTSVILLE, Texas, Oct. 30, 2013  – The U.S. Women’s National Team held its October camp this past week at the USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, a U.S. Olympic Training Site. The camp, which ran from Oct. 24-28, featured 31 gymnasts and their coaches.  2013 World team members Simone Biles of Spring, Texas/Bannon’s Gymnastix, McKayla Maroney of Long Beach, Calif./All Olympia, Kyla Ross of Aliso Viejo, Calif./Gym-Max, and Brenna Dowell of Odessa, Mo./Great American Gymnastics Express were not in attendance.
 
Each national team camp starts with physical abilities testing. During the next two days, gymnasts undergo through verification on each event under the watchful eye of the Athlete Selection Committee.  TIGAR’s Polina Shchennikova posted the highest physical abilities score of the camp.
