VITEBSK, Belarus – The USA won three medals, two silver and one bronze, at the Slavic Games Open in Vitebsk, Belarus. More than 200 athletes from six countries competed in the annual event, which is hosted by the Belarus Gymnastics Federation.
Savannah Vinsant of Newton, Texas/Twist and Shout, earned two silver medals. She placed second in 13-16 year-old women’s trampoline with a score of 34.70. Anna Gorchenok and Svetlana Makshtareva of Belarus finished first and third, respectively, with scores of 34.90 and 34.60. Jane Truster of Lee’s Summit, Mo., placed fourth with a 33.20.
Vinsant and Truster teamed to claim the silver medal in 13-16 year-old women’s synchronized trampoline with a score of 42.40. The pair finished just one tenth of a point behind Gorchenok and Makshtareva, who earned a 42.50. Anastasiya Fomina and Valeria Mosesova of Belarus earned the bronze medal with a 41.20. Ashleigh Bostic and Jenny Renner, both of Greensboro, N.C./Tumblebees Ultimate Gym, finished eighth with a score of 38.00.
Logan Dooley of Lake Forest, Calif./World Elite Gymnastics, won the bronze medal in 17-and-older men’s trampoline with a score of 39.00. In first was Russia’s Sergei Chumak with a 40.30 and in second was Belarus’ Viacheslav Model with a 40.20.
In 13-16 year-old men’s trampoline, Stewart Pritchard and Jackson Tyson, both of Greensboro, N.C./Tumblebees Ultimate Gym, placed seventh with a score of 38.90, and Hunter Brewster of Lafayette, La./Trampoline & Tumbling Express, and Dante Hebert of Carencro, Calif./Trampoline & Tumbling Express, finished eighth with a 38.80.
Competing in 13-16 year-old women’s trampoline but not advancing to finals was Stephanie Rodriguez of GymTyme Tumbling and GYM Inc.
