EVERETT, Wash., April 10, 2015 – The United States closed the 2016 Pacific Rim Championships presented by Hershey’s at the XFINITY Arena at Everett (Wash.) on a golden note, capturing a total of 17 gold medals for women’s, men’s and rhythmic gymnastics in the individual event finals. The U.S. also picked up 10 silver medals.

In women’s gymnastics, Ashton Locklear of Hamlet, N.C./Everest Gymnastics, won the uneven bars title, and her teammates went one-two in both the balance beam and floor exercise. Ragan Smith of Lewisville, Texas/Texas Dreams Gymnastics, took top honors on the balance beam, with teammate Aly Raisman of Needham, Mass./Brestyan’s American Gymnastics, not far behind in second. Raisman bounced back to win the floor exercise, her signature event, and Brenna Dowell of Odessa, Mo./Great American Gymnastics Express, brought home the floor silver.

The U.S. men won all six event titles, going one-two in four: floor exercise — Jake Dalton of Reno, Nev./Team Hilton (University of Oklahoma), gold, and Eddie Penev of Penfield, N.Y./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center), silver; pommel horse – Alex Naddour of Gilbert, Ariz./Team Hilton (USA Youth Fitness Center), gold, and Sam Mikulak of Newport Beach, Calif./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center), silver; still rings and parallel bars – Donnell Whittenburg of Baltimore, Md./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center), gold, with John Orozco of the Bronx, N.Y./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center), silver on still rings; vault –Penev, gold, and Whittenburg, silver; and horizontal bar –Orozco, gold.

In rhythmic gymnastics, the USA collected all eight gold medals for individual events, along with four silver. The gold medalists were: Aliya Protto of Culver City, Calif./California Rhythms, in senior ball, hoop and clubs; Camilla Feeley of Highland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, for senior ribbon; and Lili Mizuno of Brentwood, Calif./Community Youth Center, in junior ball, hoop, clubs and ribbon. The silver medals went to: ball and hoop – Feeley; clubs – Brigita Budginas of Agoura Hills, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics; and ribbon – Protto.
