USA Gymnastics selects rhythmic gymnasts for Jr. Pan Am Championships, Gran

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – USA Gymnastics has selected the rhythmic gymnasts who will represent the United States in the 2006 Junior Pan American Championships, Aug. 25-29, in Toronto, Ont., and the Grand Prix in Deventer, Netherlands, Sept. 2-4. 2006 junior all-around champion Rachel Marmer of Los Angeles, Calif./Hollywood Academy of Gymnastics, will compete in both events.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – USA Gymnastics has selected the rhythmic gymnasts who will represent the United States in the 2006 Junior Pan American Championships, Aug. 25-29, in Toronto, Ont., and the Grand Prix in Deventer, Netherlands, Sept. 2-4. 2006 junior all-around champion Rachel Marmer of Los Angeles, Calif./Hollywood Academy of Gymnastics, will compete in both events.

Also competing on the U.S. Team for the Junior Pan Am Championships are Marlee Shape of Buffalo Grove, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic, and Anastasia Torba of Orinda, Calif./Alegro Rhythmic. 2006 U.S. clubs and rope champion Julie Zetlin of Bethesda, Md./Rhythmflex, who competes as a senior, will join Marmer at the Grand Prix.

At the 2006 Visa Championships, Marmer won her second consecutive junior all-around title, as well as sweeping the gold medals for the four individual events. Shape was second in the all-around, hoop, ribbon and rope, along with a third-place finish in clubs. Torba claimed the bronze medal in hoop and was fourth in the all-around and ribbon. In the senior competition, Zetlin won the clubs and rope events and was fourth in the all-around and ribbon.
