With athletes involved in the NCAA season, preparing for upcoming World Cup events or looking forward toward the Pan American Games or U.S. Championships, the March 3-6 Senior National Team camp focused mainly on physical assessments and individual needs related to their individual training plans in the gym.

Held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, the athletes in attendance were: Donothan Bailey, Allan Bower, Sam Mikulak, Akash Modi, Sean Melton, Stephen Nedoroscik, Robert Neff, Cameron Bock, Kanji Oyama and Eddie Penev. Under the direction of Men’s High-performance Director Brett McClure, the camp ran from March 3-6.

In addition to time spent in the gym, the athletes took advantage of the many resources available through USOC Sports Performance with sport medicine assessments, physical assessments and working with other sports performance experts in areas such as sports psychology and nutrition.

For dinner on the camp’s final day, the athletes participated in a special group activity in the USOTC’s “Teaching Kitchen.” In the kitchen, they learned to cook simple and nutritious “20-minute” meals that can address specific needs, such as pre-competition or recovery. Of course, there was competition even in the kitchen. The athletes were divided into four teams, and each team was given a different dish to prepare. Upon completion, each “team” had to present their dish to a panel of judges, who evaluated the dishes on presentation, taste and the athletes’ knowledge about the ingredients and nutrition of their dish. The athletes enjoyed the experience and their dinners.
