For the first time since 1996, one club captures both the men’s and women’s team titles in the same year.

The NAIGC (National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs) concluded their 25th annual National Championships on April 13, 2013, in Minneapolis, MN. Making a special appearance at this year’s event was Men’s Senior National Team member Brandon Wynn. Almost 800 competitors, representing 65 clubs from across the country, participated in the competition.

Eli Richardson, a senior from Texas A&M University, returned to the top of the all-around podium with a score of 85.1. Richardson won the all-around title in 2009, 2010, and 2011; he placed second in 2012. Sophomore Tommy Trompeter (University of Texas at Dallas) captured second place in this year’s competition with a score of 82.8. The third-place all-around finisher with a score of 82.3 was senior Bryce Cashell from Texas State University.

In the women’s competition, senior Zara Karuman (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) took first place all-around for the second year in a row with a score of 38.55. Zara also captured her third national title on the vault. Second- and third-place all-around went to junior teammates from James Madison University Maria Hayden and Morgan Byrd with scores of 37.8 and 37.725, respectively.

Texas A&M University became the first team since 1996 to win both the men’s and women’s team competitions in the same year.

About the NAIGC:
The National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs (NAIGC) is an organization dedicated to the promotion and support of collegiate club gymnastics "for the love of the sport." The NAIGC hosted its first annual national championships in 1989. In 2006, the NAIGC incorporated as a non-profit and elected its first Board of Directors. The NAIGC was recognized as a tax-exempt public charity in 2008.

Today, an elected Board of Directors, alongside its appointed advisors, runs the NAIGC. Most of these dedicated volunteers are current and former college club gymnasts. The NAIGC hosts this annual national championship meet and other gymnastics events throughout the year and supports its member clubs through a variety of technological and administrative services.

Club membership in the NAIGC is open to any collegiate gymnastics club in the United States. Individual membership is open to anyone with an interest in collegiate club gymnastics. For more information, please visit our website at http://www.naigc.net.
