MONTERREY, Mexico, Nov. 23, 2019 – Five U.S. groups and pairs won senior and junior titles on the second day of the 2019 Pan American Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships in Monterrey, New Leon, Mexico. In the age group competition, the USA picked up four gold and two silver medals. The competition concludes on Nov. 24 with the combined competition.

In the senior division, Braiden McDougall and Angel Felix of Realis Gymnastics (Riverside, Calif.) picked up their second gold, this time for the men’s pair balance (25.950). The senior women’s group of Elanor Chang and Kayla and Grace Vonder Haar of Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics (Laurel, Md.) also claimed their second title at the championships with their 27.100 for the balance routine.

In the junior division, Katie Borcherding and Destiny Nolting of Show Me Acro (Pacific, Mo.) earned a 26.050 for their dynamic routine and second gold in Monterrey. In the women’s group dynamic competition, Isabel Chang, Alexandra Gladkova, and Sidney Martin of Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics (Laurel, Md.) notched a 27.600 to win the dynamic gold to follow up on the balance title. Mixed Pair Anna Blough and Carson Breen of Realis Gymnastics earned a 25.810 to secure the Pan Am mixed pair dynamic crown, their second.

In the 12-18 age-group division, Hannah Davis and Leavy McDonald of Acrobatic Gymnastics of San Antonio (Texas) claimed the women’s pair Pan Am balance gold with their mark of 25.190. Bethany Glick and Emma and Ellie Sousa of California Elite Kids (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) garnered the top balance score of 27.300 for women’s group. U.S. women’s group Makayla Anderson, Reagan Grigsby and Taylor Smith of Empire Acrobatics (Riverside, Calif.) scored 24.330 place fourth for their balance routine. Shawn Powell and Audrey Wang of Xtreme Acro (Rockville, Md.) captured the mixed pair balance silver medal with a score of 25.900.

The 11-16 age group also competed. Women’s pair Kaylee DeSantis and Reese Morgan of Crescent City Gymnastics (New Orleans, La.) performed flawlessly to bring home the balance gold (27.300). Cailey Smith and Adelynn Till of First State Gymnastics (Newark, Del.) were fourth. The USA went one-two in the women’s group dynamic competition. Aaliylah Guastella, Meghan Gul and Katryna Oselska of Rodina Elite Gymnastics Academy (Sacramento, Calif.) scored a 27.250 for first, followed by Meghan Kampmann, Cate Lacy and Cecelia Shadrick of Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics (Laurel, Md.) at 26.900.

The Pan Am Championships features qualification and final rounds for several levels, including senior, junior (13-19) and age group (12-18 and 11-16), for the all-around and events. The competition schedule is: Nov. 22 – opening ceremony and qualification round; Nov. 23 – qualification; and Nov. 24 – finals and award ceremonies.
