SAN JOSE, Calif., June 27, 2012— Ronit Shamuilov of Brooklyn, N.Y/Isadora, earned the junior all-around national title with a two-day score of 206.275 at the 2012 Rhythmic National Championships in San Jose, Calif. Shamuilov, who led the all-around standings after the first day with a 102.300, won three of four events in the final en route to a 103.975.
"I couldn’t have asked for better," said Shamuilov, who won four event medals including two gold and two silver on the first day of competition. "To know that you set a goal and finally accomplished it, you feel so happy."
Trailing Shamuilov was Laura Zeng of Libertyville, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, second with a 205.650 followed by Julia Garbuz of Eden Prairie, Minn./NorthWest Rhythmic LLC, in third at 198.300.
Shamuilov won in the hoop event with a 25.975, followed by Zeng with a 25.900 and Monica Rokhman of Northbrook, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center, with a 25.125.
In the ball event, Shamuilov earned a 26.400 for the top score, Zeng earned a 25.975 for second and Garbuz took third with a 25.225.
Shamuilov won her third event of the final round on ribbon with a 26.400, followed by Zeng with a 25.900 and Lu with a 25.225.
Zeng placed first in the clubs with a 25.875, Shamuilov took second with a 25.200 and Rokhman and Brigita Budginas of Agoura Hills, Calif./Platinum Gymnastics Academy, tied for third at 24.900.
