After a successful summer at the Olympics, the Woman’s Program is back to work at the ranch. Thirty-six gymnasts were invited to participate in the development camp at the Olympic Training Center in Huntsville, Texas. The gymnasts were invited from various TOPs camps and competitions as well as video reviews sent in by their coaches.

The camp was led by Valeri Liukin and assisted by our National Coaching Staff. The gymnasts trained twice-a-day and the coaches participated in lectures after each training session. The young gymnasts ranged in age from 9 to 13 years old.

Medals were awarded to our top 3 gymnasts in physical abilities. The gold medal went to Tamara Thomas of Paragon Elite, the silver medal to Christina Desiderio of Parkettes and the bronze medal to Gabrielle Perea of Legacy Elite. All of the attending gymnasts wanted to stay and participate at the National Team Training Camp that follows this camp.

Valeri Liukin was very impressed with the level of gymnastics shown by these young gymnasts. He met personally with the coaches to give them direction to help their athletes’ training once they are back at their home gyms. Next stop for many of these gymnasts will be the October Developmental Camp.
