BEIJING, China, Dec. 2, 2007—David Sender of Arlington Heights, Ill., placed fourth in men’s vault at the Good Luck Beijing International Tournament in Beijing, China. Bridget Sloan of Pittsboro, Ind., finished seventh in women’s uneven bars. Competition concludes tomorrow with individual event finals in women’s balance beam and men’s parallel bars and horizontal bar.

 

Sender posted a score of 15.987 to just miss wining bronze in men’s vault. China’s Lu Bin won gold, Romania’s Flavius Koczi claimed silver and Japan’s Makoto Okiguchi earned bronze.

 

In women’s uneven bars, Sloan scored a 14.850 to place seventh. Winning gold was the Ukraine’s Dariya Zgoba, followed by China’s Jiang Yuyuan in second and Australia’s Daria Joura in third.

 

Sloan and Chellsie Memmel of West Allis, Wis., will compete tomorrow in the balance beam finals.

Held at the National Indoor Stadium, the Good Luck Beijing International Tournament is the test event for artistic gymnastics for the 2008 Olympic Games, giving each country an opportunity to see the Olympic competition venue in action.
