PAGU Training Camp athletes

Thirty athletes and 32 coaches from 15 Pan American Gymnastics Union (PAGU) countries, as well as 10 members of the U.S. women’s national team coaching staff and USA Gymnastics staff, participated in the PAGU women’s training camp, Nov. 2-7, at the U.S. Women’s National Team Training Center in Huntsville, Texas.

Martha Karolyi, U.S. women’s national team coordinator, conducted the camp, which was hosted by USA Gymnastics and sponsored by PAGU and the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). Also in attendance were Kathy Kelly, USA Gymnastics’ vice president of program, and Naomi Valenzo, president of the PAGU Women’s Technical Committee and a member of the FIG Women’s Technical Committee.

The athletes, coaches and staff worked on the Code of Points updates with correct skill selection and routine composition during two workouts each day. The U.S. women’s national team coaching staff consulted on each of the four events and held dance sessions during each workout. The athletes showed tremendous improvement during the camp and the coaches left with great enthusiasm.
