2023 Gymnastics for All National Championships and GymFest headed to Katy, Texas
posted on 08/26/2022

INDIANAPOLIS, August 26 - The 2023 Gymnastics for All National Championships and GymFest is slated for June 15-18 at the Leonard E. Merrell Center in Katy, Texas. Gymnastics for All, also known as group gymnastics, includes competitive and non-competitive opportunities and features a division for gymnasts with special needs who compete as part of the HUGS Program (Hope Unites Gymnastics with Special Athletes). In total, nearly 500 athletes will participate across four fun-filled days of gymnastics.

Competitive divisions include Power TeamGym and Acrobatics and Tumbling. In Power TeamGym, squads comprised of six to 14 members perform two events - group floor exercise and a group jump routine consisting of tumbling, vaulting and mini-trampoline passes. Acrobatics and Tumbling athletes compete in pyramid, toss, acro and tumbling, and a group team event. The Acro and Tumbling program serves as the developmental program for the college varsity team sport of the same name.

Athletes also have the opportunity to participate in non-competitive divisions, including GymFest and the Gym for Life Challenge - a performance-based event where groups have their routines evaluated for bronze, silver or gold awards, and multiple teams can achieve each status. GymFest is the national equivalent of the World Gymnaestrada and is designed for the enjoyment of the participants and audience rather than competitive achievement.

Gymnastics for All is one of the eight gymnastics sport disciplines officially recognized by the International Gymnastics Federation and national federations around the globe. Worldwide, Gymnastics for All boasts the largest membership of any of the disciplines and provides opportunities and activities for all ages and levels of ability. Associated activities contribute to the development of general sport skills, fitness, health, important movement patterns and daily life skills.
