GWANGIU, South Korea, July 6, 2015 – Akash Modi of Morganville, N.J./Stanford University, won the bronze medal in the all-around today at the World University Games in Gwangiu, South Korea. The USA’s Donothan Bailey of Lake Forest, Calif./University of California – Berkeley, finished fifth.

After qualifying in fifth place, Modi climbed to third today during the men’s all-around final. He scored an 88.300 in the all-around to win the bronze medal behind Ukraine’s Oleg Verniaiev, 92.075, and Japan’s Shogo Nonomura, 89.275. Modi’s individual scores were 15.000, floor; 14.650, pommel horse; 14.250, still rings; 14.850, vault; 14.800, parallel bars; and 14.750, horizontal bar.

Bailey finished fifth today with an 86.850 total in the all-around.

Based on preliminary round performances, Modi will also compete in the event finals for the floor exercise, pommel horse, parallel bars and horizontal bar. Bailey advanced to pommel horse finals.

Event final winners will be determined tomorrow, July 7. The individual event finals will be shown live on ESPN 3 in the United States. Coverage begins on tonight at 10 p.m. ET, and concludes on July 7 at 3:00 a.m. ET.
