MOSCOW, Feb. 23, 2016 – Lili Mizuno of Brentwood, Calif./Community Youth Center, advanced to the finals in hoop and clubs at the 2016 Alina Cup in Moscow. The event is the first international assignment for Mizuno as a member of the U.S. National Team.

Mizuno just missed the podium in the junior clubs final and finished fourth with a score of 15.400. Belarus’ Alina Harnasko took the gold medal with a 16.750, followed by Russia’s Alina Ermolova (16.500) and Israel’s Yuliana Telgina (15.633). In the hoop final, Mizuno was seventh, posting a 14.750. Ermolova posted the top score, a 16.400, followed by Israel’s Nikol Zelikman with a 16.166 and Harnakso, 16.100. Elizabeth Kapitonova of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, also competed in the junior competition. Kapitonova and Mizuno combined for a seventh place team finish.

In the senior ranks, Ekaterina Kapitonova of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, finished seventh in the all-around standings with a total score of 64.899. Her individual scores were 15.666, hoop; 16.150, ball; 16.900, clubs; and 16.183, ribbon. Brigita Budginas of Agoura Hills, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics, competed hors concurs and earned an all-around total of 62.566.

Serena Lu of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, participated in the Moscow Grand Prix, earning an all-around total of 64.716 with scores of 15.733, hoop; 16.400, ball; 16.100, clubs; and 16.483, ribbon.
