Miller talks to kids at American Eagles Gymnastics

CHICAGO metropolitan area, Jan. 26, 2009 – Olympic and world champion Shannon Miller, who just returned from the Mideast where she visited U.S. military troops, is in Chicago visiting local gymnastics clubs to promote the 2009 Tyson American Cup, scheduled for Feb. 21 at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill. She will speak to students at three Chicago area high schools on Jan. 27, as well as meet with gymnastics students at two Chicago Park District clubs that are hosting the Tyson Fitness Challenge.

While at the gym clubs, Miller spoke about the benefits of gymnastics and fitness, her experiences in the sport and the Tyson American Cup, one of the most prestigious international invitationals. She also interacted with the kids, signed autographs and posed for photos. The clubs she visited were McHenry Gymnastics, American Eagles, the Gym Spot and the Buehler YMCA. The mayor of Round Lake Beach and a member of the Board of Trustees were on hand during the American Eagles visit.

Miller is the USA’s most decorated gymnast, earning 16 world and Olympic medals during her competitive career.
