Sam Mikulak of Corona del Mar, Calif./University of Michigan, and Rebecca Sereda of Staten Island, N.Y./Isadora, have been nominated for the U.S. Olympic Committee’s June Male and Female Athletes of the Month, respectively. In his World Cup series debut, Mikulak grabbed two medals at the 2013 World Challenge Cup in Anadia, Portugal. Mikulak scored a 15.275 to win the horizontal bar title, and clinched the bronze medal on the floor exercise behind two-time World floor champion Diego Hypolito of Brazil and 2010 European floor champion Mathias Fahrig of Germany. Mikulak also qualified for the finals in the parallel bars and vault events, where he placed fourth and tied for seventh. Mikulak earned berths to the finals for all four of the in which he competed.

Sereda captured her second consecutive U.S. rhythmic gymnastics all-around title at the 2013 U.S. Rhythmic Championships, held June 5-9 in Orlando, Fla. Following the competition, Sereda was named to the U.S. world championships team. The title is Sereda’s fifth overall and fifth consecutive (2012-13, senior; 2009-11).
