Kelley’s 16.400 on the balance beam was the day’s highest score. The USA claimed the top six spots in the event. Hong placed second and Trani finished third with scores of 15.850 and 15.600, respectively. Sloan was fourth, followed by Sarah DeMeo of Overland Park, Kan., in fifth and Hilary Mauro of West Chester, Ohio, in sixth.
On the uneven bars and floor exercise, Kelley and 2007 Tyson American Cup bronze-medalist Elsa Garcia of Mexico went one-two in both events. Kelley earned a score of 15.700 on bars and a 15.450 on floor. Ashley Priess of Hamilton, Ohio, finished third and Hong tied for fourth on bars, while Mauro, Trani and Sloan placed third through fifth on floor.
The USA had gymnasts in six of the top seven places on vault with Trani leading the group with a score of 15.300. Kelley was second, followed by Hong in third and Sloan in a tie for fourth with Garcia. DeMeo and Mauro finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
