FORT WORTH, Texas, April 19, 2015 – Individual event national titles were awarded today at the 2015 National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Championships. The competition was held at the Fort Worth (Texas) Convention Center Arena.
On the vault, 2012 Olympic team alternate Elizabeth Price of Stanford nearly stuck a sky-high Yurchenko full. She posted a 9.933 to win the title. Florida’s Bridget Sloan was second at 9.925. 2009 World vault champion Kayla Williams of Alabama and Oklahoma’s Haley Scaman tied for third with a 9.8917.
Utah’s Georgia Dabritz, who had scored 10.000 in both Friday and Saturday’s competitions, won the uneven bars title. She performed a Comaneci salto and a Jaeger before sticking a tuck full-out dismount. She scored a 9.9625. Sloan and Georgia’s Brittany Rogers shared second place with matching 9.950 marks.
2008 Olympic silver medalist Samantha Peszek of UCLA, who shared the all-around title earlier this week with Florida’s Kytra Hunter, opened with a standing back full on the balance beam. She executed a front aerial to back handspring and dismounted with a back handspring, layout stepout, back full series for a 9.950 and her second NCAA beam title. 2007 World team gold medalist Ivana Hong of Stanford was second (9.9375) and Oregon State’s Madeline Gardiner finished third (9.925).
Hunter closed her championships with a 9.9625 on the floor exercise to win the title. She tumbled a double layout and an open double back. Denver’s Nina McGee and Oklahoma’s Brenna Dowell tied for second with 9.950s.
