BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 22, 2022 – Evita Griskenas (Orland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center) and Lili Mizuno (Northbrook, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center) sit ninth and 13th, respectively, in the all-around competition after Day 1 of the 2022 Baku World Cup. The 2020 Olympians have both secured spots in Sunday’s ball final, while Griskenas notched the second-reserve position for the hoop final. The pair will take on clubs and ribbon Saturday to close out the all-around competition.

Griskenas’ 60.100 has her positioned in the top-10 at the midway point of the all-around in her first international outing of 2022. Mizuno, who finished sixth at the Sofia World Cup earlier this month, sits at 59.150 after two apparatus. Both athletes delivered scores of 30.000 on ball to advance to the event final in the seventh and eighth spots. Bulgaria’s Boryana Kaleyn led the way with a 33.300 and also sits atop the Day 1 all-around standings with a 65.950. Italy’s Sofia Raffaeli topped the scoresheet on hoop with a 33.000. Griskenas was 10th with a 30.100, while Mizuno landed 13th with a 29.150.

Mizuno will lead off Group B Saturday at 4 a.m. ET. In all, 42 gymnasts representing 29 countries will compete tomorrow across four groups at the Milli Gimnastika Arenasi. The eight highest scorers on each apparatus will advance to Sunday’s finals.
