WILLIAMSBURG, Va., March 30, 2013 – The College of William and Mary’s Neal Courter and Landon Funiciello each won two individual event titles at the 2013 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships, held at the Kaplan Arena on the campus of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. Courter took top honors for the floor exercise and vault, and Funiciello was the titlist for the still rings and parallel bars. Nick Owen of the U.S. Air Force Academy was the gold medalist for the pommel horse, and his teammate Nicholas Gaudlip won the horizontal bar.

For floor, Courter earned the title with his14.950. ASU’s Michael Repp was second at 14.100, finishing just ahead of the Air Force’s Gared Chapman and ASU’s Riley Barclay who tied for third at 14.050.

Owen’s 14.400 clinched the pommel horse crown. William and Mary’s Keaton Ackerman was second at 14.350, and Springfield College’s Jon Zima was third at 14.050.

Funiciello easily won the still rings gold medal by posting a 15.350. The Air Force finished second and third with Jon Spiro’s 14.900 and Chapman’s 14.600.

Courter’s second gold was on vault, where he scored a 15.200. Air Force’s Tory Brown was next at 14.650, just edging out William and Mary’s Daniel Potemski, who posted a 14.600 for third after winning the varsity all-around title on Friday night.

On the parallel bars, Funiciello garnered a 14.750 for the title. ASU’s Alex Gaudaur, who won the collegiate Division all-around, scored a 14.150 for second. The U.S. Naval Academy’s Mitchell Larios and Potemski tied for third at 13.800.

The Air Force went one-two in the horizontal bar final. Gaudlip won the gold at 15.000, with Mac Ritchie in second at 14.850. Courter was third at 13.950.

Earlier in the championships, the U.S. Air Force won its fourth straight varsity team title, with Arizona State taking top honors in the Collegiate Division.

The schools in this year’s field are: Varsity – College of William and Mary, Springfield College, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy; and Collegiate Club Division – Arizona State University, College at Brockport, and University of Washington.
