BATON ROUGE – In front of an opening night record crowd of 10,788 Tiger fans, the fourth-ranked LSU gymnastics team got the 2019 season off to a roaring start by defeating eighth-ranked California by a score of 196.775 to 195.650, Friday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

SALT LAKE CITY—The No. 5 Utah gymnastics team ushered in 2019 with a bang, posting the third-best opening week score in the nation while steamrolling Penn State, 197.175-194.450.

#6 Alabama 194.750, Northern Illinois 193.325, Temple 191.925, SEMO 187.800 – Jan. 4, 2019
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 6-ranked Alabama gymnastics team posted a 194.750 to win its season opening quad meet over Northern Illinois (193.325), Temple (191.925) and Southeast Missouri State (187.800) in front of 8,449 fans Friday night in Coleman Coliseum.

#7 Georgia 196.600, #18 Ohio State 194.900 – Jan. 5, 2019
ATHENS, Ga. — With the highest score to open the season since 2007, the seventh-ranked University of Georgia gymnastics team began the 2019 campaign with a 196.600- 194.900 win over No. 18 Ohio State in front of a sold out crowd in Stegeman Coliseum on Saturday.

#9 Michigan 196.050, Iowa State 194.325, West Virginia 194.150, Rutgers 189.750 – Jan. 4, 2019
CANCUN, Mexico — The University of Michigan women’s gymnastics team opened up its 2019 season with a first-place finish at the Cancun Classic on Friday (Jan. 4), scoring a 196.050 in the Grand Coral ballroom of the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun Resort.

#10 Kentucky 195.975, Texas Woman’s 192.600 – Jan. 5, 2019
DENTON (Jan. 5, 2019) — Texas Woman’s hosted Kentucky on Saturday in the first meet of the 2019 season. The Pioneers tallied a team score of 192.600 behind an impressive showing from junior co-captain Bria Northrop who posted team-highs on floor exercise and the uneven bars.

AUBURN, Ala. – It was a strong start for the No. 14 Auburn gymnastics team Friday night as the Tigers opened the 2019 season at home with a win over No. 29 Iowa, 194.825 – 193.225.

#19 Missouri 195.450, #20 Arizona State 195.000, Minnesota 194.150, UIC 193.925 – Jan. 4, 2019
TEMPE, Ariz. – Ringing in the 2019 season, No. 20 Arizona State gymnastics finished in second with a score of 195.000, trailing No. 19 Missouri and beating No. 23 Minnesota and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
