STUTTGART, Germany, Oct. 12, 2019 – 2019 World all-around champion Simone Biles of Spring, Texas/World Champions Centre, and 2019 World team gold-medalist Jade Carey of Phoenix, Ariz./Arizona Sunrays, finished one-two in the women’s vault final, and Sunisa Lee of St. Paul, Minn./Midwest Gymnastics Center, claimed the bronze in the uneven bars at the World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany. Biles now has tied Vitaly Scherbo’s record of 23 World medals.

Competition concludes with tomorrow’s final day of event finals at 1 p.m. local time. Biles and Kara Eaker of Grain Valley, Mo./Great American Gymnastics Express, will compete in the balance beam final, and both Biles and Lee in the floor final. Sam Mikulak of Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center, will compete in the horizontal bar final, and the men’s finals also include vault and the parallel bars. U.S.-based fans can watch the finals live at 7 a.m. ET at olympicchannel.com, as well as two opportunities to catch the last day of event finals action tape-delayed on the Olympic Channel at 12 p.m. ET and on NBCSN at 11 p.m. ET (both have a simulcast).

In the vault final, Biles easily won the gold with a 15.399 average, which tied her with Scherbo at 23 World medals. Biles posted a 15.333 for her Cheng and a 15.466 for her Amanar. Carey was second at 14.883, that included a 15.166 for a Cheng and a 14.600 for an Amanar. Britain’s Elissa Downie was third at 14.816.

On the uneven bars, Lee’s routine received a 14.800. Belgium’s Nina Derwael successfully defended her 2018 World bars crown with her 15.233, and Britain’s Rebecca Downey earned a 15.000 for the silver. Biles tallied a 14.700 and fifth place for her routine that included her double-double dismount.

The men’s champions for today were: floor exercise, Edriel Yulo Carlos, Phillippines; pommel horse, Max Whitlock, Great Britain; and still rings, Ibrahim Colak, Turkey.
