KEARNEY, Missouri, Dec. 7, 2018 – The National Team Selection Competition for acrobatic gymnastics is today at Fusion Gymnastics in Kearney, Missouri, with the national team training camp set for Dec. 8-9. Additions to the current 2018-19 national team will be determined based on performances at the competition, which has three sessions, and the new members will be announced the morning of Dec. 8.
Current senior national team members in the field includes: 2018 U.S. men’s pair champions Angel Felix and Braiden McDougall of Realis Gymnastics Academy/Moreno Valley, California; 2018 U.S. women’s pair champions Emily Davis and Aubrey Rosilier of Acrobatic Gymnastics of San Antonio/San Antonio, Texas; and 2018 U.S. mixed pair silver-medalists Aisley Boynton and Sean Obley of Realis Gymnastics Academy/Moreno Valley, California. The members of the junior elite team who are competing are: Jordan Gruendler and Timothy Massa of Acrobatic Gymnastics of San Antonio/San Antonio, Texas, Mixed Pair/Jr. Elite (13-19); Katie Borcherding and Destiny Nolting of Show Me Acro/Pacific, Missouri, Women’s Pair/Jr. Elite (13-19); and Bella Aguayo, Riley Berg and Kirsten Clark of Aspire Kids Sports Center/Chandler, Arizona, Women’s Group/Jr. Elite (12-18).
Athletes seeking berths on the senior national team are: 2018 U.S. women’s group champion Elanor Chang with new partners, Grace Vonder Haar and Kayla Vonder Haar of Emilias Acro Gymnastics and Cheer/Laurel, Maryland; and 2018 U.S. women’s group silver-medalist Isabel Chang, Sasha Gladkova and new partner, Sydney Martin of Emilias Acro Gymnastics and Cheer/Laurel, Maryland.

The three competition sessions begin at 9 a.m. CT, 1 p.m. CT and 7 p.m. CT that feature three divisions – senior elite, junior elite and Age Group 11-16. Those competing in the Age Group 11-16 will compete balance and dynamic exercise routines. The Junior Elite 12-18 and 13-19, and the Senior Elite will perform balance, dynamic, and combined exercise routines. Judging will be according to the USA Gymnastics Acrobatics Code of Points, with references to the International Gymnastics Federation’s World Age Group Competition Rules, Code of Points and Tables of Difficulty.
The members of the newly named national team and competitors from the selection event will participate in a two-day training camp.
