LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Feb. 25, 2024) – Yul Moldauer (Arvada, Colo./5280 Gymnastics) staged a dominant, come-from-behind victory in winning the Senior Men’s Winter Cup all-around title Sunday night to close out competition in Louisville.

Moldauer makes comeback

It was the second consecutive Winter Cup all-around title for Moldauer, who exceeded his all-around total from Day 1 by 0.850 points to finish with 169.750 points over two days of competition (84.450, 85.300). Day 1 leader Shane Wiskus (Spring Park, Minn./EVO Gymnastics) was second with 167.450 (84.850, 82.600), and Riley Loos (Folsom, Calif./Stanford University) was third with 164.400 (81.800, 82.600).

Trailing Wiskus by 0.400 after Day 1 on Friday, Moldauer was strong out of the gate Sunday night, posting a 14.500 on the very first vault of the competition to take the lead and set the tone for his evening. The Tokyo Olympian and 2023 World Championships team bronze medalist followed up with a 15.400 on parallel bars during the second rotation. After a 13.050 on high bar, he posted a 14.400 on floor and 13.750 on pommel horse before closing out with a 14.200 on rings.

In apparatus competition, Moldauer won floor with a total of 28.800, thanks to identical scores of 14.400 over both days. Curran Phillips (Naperville, Ill./EVO Gymnastics) dominated parallel bars with 32.050, including a score of 16.100 on Sunday and 15.950 on Friday. Phillips also took the high bar crown with a score of 28.600 (14.300, 14.300). Other apparatus winners were Patrick Hoopes (Lehi, Utah/U.S. Air Force Academy) on pommel horse with 29.600 (14.850, 14.750), Alex Diab (Hinsdale, Ill./EVO Gymnastics) on rings with 29.200 (14.750, 14.450), and Kameron Nelson (Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho/Ohio State University) on vault with 27.675 (14.050, 13.625).
