Rin Keys (Porter Ranch, Calif./Burlo Gymnastics) made history on Sunday with her bronze medal in clubs at the FIG Rhythmic Junior World Championships in Cluj Napoca, Romania, becoming the first U.S. athlete to medal at an FIG Rhythmic World Championship at either the Junior or Senior level.

The 2023 Junior U.S. champion in all-around, clubs, ball and hoop posted a 29.400 on Sunday to secure the bronze in clubs in Romania. Her score landed her just behind Liliana Lewinska of Poland (30.950) and Taisiia Onofriichuk of Ukraine (29.750) in the final standings.

Keys also competed in the hoop final on Sunday, finished eighth with a 28.450. Israel’s Alona Tal Franco was first with a 31.600. In ball competition, Megan Chu (San Diego, Calif./Pacific Stars Rhythmic Academy) was eighth with a 28.450, while Elvira Krasnobaeva topped the podium with a 32.100.

Rhythmic events in Romania continue next week with the FIG Cluj Napoca World Challenge Cup July 14-16.
