INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 24, 2015 – The 2015 World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships, Nov. 26-29 at the Stadium Arena Fyn in Odense, Denmark, are the first of two opportunities for countries to qualify in trampoline for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The World Championships also act as the qualifier for the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland, the equivalent of the Olympic Games for the non-Olympic events of synchronized trampoline, double mini-trampoline and tumbling. The 2015 World Trampoline and Tumbling Age Group Competition will be held in Odense from Dec. 3-6. USA Gymnastics will provide live coverage of the World Championships’ finals on its YouTube channel beginning Friday, Nov. 27, and post stories, photos and videos from every round on its website, usagym.org, and its social media platforms.

2014 World medalist – double mini-trampoline champion Erin Jauch of Crystal Lake, Ill./Fox Valley Tumbling and Trampoline, silver-medalist Austin White of Newport Coast, Calif./World Elite Gymnastics, and bronze-medalist Austin Nacey of Braidwood, Ill./TwistStars Tumbling and Trampoline – and 2015 Pan-American Games trampoline silver-medalist Steven Gluckstein of Atlantic Highlands, N.J./Elite Trampoline Academy, headline this year’s U.S. World Trampoline and Tumbling Team.

The top eight men and women, with a maximum of two per country, in the World Championships trampoline rankings will qualify their countries for the 2016 Olympics. Twelve men and 12 women, with a maximum of two per country, will have the opportunity to compete in the Olympic Test Event in Rio de Janeiro, next April and vie for five men’s and five women’s spots for the Games. Trampoline’s total athlete field is 16 men and 16 women, with the last few spots allocated for the host country, Tripartite and continental representation. For the World Games, the number of competitors who will qualify is 80: 10 pairs for both men and women in synchronized trampoline; and 10 men and 10 women each for double mini-trampoline and tumbling. The International World Games Association organizes the World Games.

More than 300 athletes from 41 countries are expected to compete in Odense, which has also hosted the 2001 World Championships, 2008 European Championships and World Cups in 2011 and 2013. The trampoline field of 132 men and 87 women is a 30 percent increase from the 2014 Worlds in Daytona Beach, Fla.
