CALI, Colombia (April 28, 2024) – On Sunday’s final day at the Pacific Rim Championships in Colombia, U.S. athletes brought in 17 medals, including team gold in both men’s and women’s artistic. By the end of the evening, the U.S. medal total at the 2024 Pac Rims stood at 46 medals across artistic, rhythmic and trampoline and tumbling competition.

Rose wins double gold for the women

After scoring the third highest all-around score Saturday evening, Simone Rose (Sammamish, Wash./Pacific Reign Gymnastics) claimed two apparatus gold medals during Sunday’s finals. She had the highest score on uneven bars by a full point (13.850) and also secured the floor exercise gold (13.200). The Pac Rim all-around champion, Jayla Hang (Bellevue, Wash./Pacific Reign Gymnastics) earned floor silver behind Rose with a 13.050 and took bronze on both uneven bars (12.750) and balance beam (12.650). American Kieryn Finnell (Pittsford, N.Y./RGA) won beam gold with a 13.550.

The U.S. women’s team of Hang, Finnell, Madray Johnson (Dallas, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics) and Rose also claimed the Pac Rim team title with a 211.150 after their performance on Saturday. They were first on the podium ahead of Canada (192.050) and Guatemala (179.850).

Moldauer commands men’s podiums

Men’s all-around champion Yul Moldauer (Arvada, Colo./5280 Gymnastics) added three more golds to the U.S. tally during event finals, winning titles on parallel bars (14.700), floor (14.250) and still rings (13.950), where he shared the gold with teammate Cameron Bock (Tustin, Calif./University of Michigan). In addition to his shared rings title, all-around silver medalist Bock won silver on parallel bars (14.250) and bronze on horizontal bar (13.750). Caden Clinton (Houston, Texas/Cypress Academy of Gymnastics) won pommel horse bronze with a 13.800. Bock was also fourth in the pommel horse final (13.500) and Kai Uemura (Chicago, Ill./Lakeshore Academy of Art Gymnastics) fifth in the floor final (13.300).

In junior competition, Danila Leykin (Sarasota, Fla./EVO Gymnastics) won pommel horse silver (12.650) in a four-way tie between Karl Jahrel Eldrew Yulo of the Phillipines, Aaron Francisco Ibarra Osuna of Mexico and Yan Dairon Zabala Arevalo of host-country Colombia. Leykin also won bronze on high bar with a 13.500. He ranked seventh in the parallel bars (12.250).

The American men’s team of Bock, Clinton, Leykin, Moldauer and Uemura also claimed team gold with a total score of 330.100. Canada’s men’s team won silver (310.750) and Colombia bronze (304.900).
