PITTSBURGH, Pa., Aug. 21, 2014 – Jazmyn Foberg of Bayville, N.J./MG Elite, is leading the junior women’s all-around rankings at the 2014 P&G Gymnastics Championships at Pittsburgh’s CONSOL Energy Center. Today’s competition continues with the senior women’s session at 7:30 p.m. Men’s gymnastics takes the floor tomorrow at 1 p.m. with the juniors followed by the seniors at 7 p.m.

Foberg began the meet on vault, where she showed a strong double-twisting Yurchenko for 14.600 points, her highest score of the day. Foberg earned the second-highest uneven bars score of the session, 14.400 points, for a routine that included a Ricna to immediate Pak salto and a full-twisting double tuck dismount. In the third rotation Foberg earned 14.200 points on beam and closed her meet on floor exercise where she tumbled a double layout mount for 14.400 points and a 57.600 all-around total.

Emily Gaskins of Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati, is in second with 57.000 points. Her best score, 14.700 points, came in the final rotation on balance beam, where she combined precision and difficulty to tie for the highest score on the event.

Currently third with 56.800 points is Nia Dennis of Westerville, Ohio/Buckeye. Dennis earned the session’s top score on vault, 15.100 points, for a dynamic double-twisting Yurchenko. On floor, she tumbled a double layout and double Arabian, for 14.500 points, tying for the day’s highest floor score.

The competition schedule for men’s and women’s gymnastics is: Friday, Aug. 22 – men’s gymnastics, juniors (1 p.m.) and seniors (7 p.m.); Saturday, Aug. 23 – women’s gymnastics, juniors (2 p.m.) and seniors (7:30 p.m.); and Sunday, Aug. 24 – men’s gymnastics, seniors (1 p.m.) and juniors (7:30 p.m.).

The USA Gymnastics National Congress and Trade Show will be held in conjunction with the 2014 P&G Gymnastics Championships at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. The annual USA Gymnastics National Congress and Trade Show is a three-day event open to the entire gymnastics community. Held in conjunction with the P&G Gymnastics Championships, National Congress provides a unique opportunity for presentations, demonstrations and educational seminars on a variety of topics and a large exhibitor’s hall with additional business opportunities.
