TOKYO, Dec. 1, 2019 – The United States won the team all-around silver medal and Kaden Brown of Herriman, Utah/Wasatch Trampoline & Tumbling, claimed the men’s tumbling bronze medal on the final day of competition at the 2019 World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships at the Ariake Gymnastics Center, the 2020 Olympic Games venue, in Tokyo, Japan. U.S. fans can watch taped coverage of the Dec. 1 finals at 2:30 p.m. ET today on the Olympic Channel, with a simulcast on olympicchannel.com, nbcsports.com and the NBC Sports app.

The World Age Group Competitions begin later this week on Dec. 5 and runs through Dec. 8. The competition determines champions in trampoline, double mini-trampoline and tumbling for boys and girls in four age-groups. The USA is competing in three of the four age-group categories: 13-14, 15-16 and 17-21.

In the team all-around competition, the USA just missed bringing home the gold, finishing one point behind Russia’s 29. China was third in the all-around at 24. The competition featured one man and one woman in trampoline, double-mini and tumbling, along with one men’s and one women’s synchro pair, for each country. Double-mini trampolinist Tristan Van Natta of Hilliard, Ohio/Integrity Athletics, tumbler Eve Doudican of Bixby, Okla./Oklahoma Extreme Tumbling, and the synchronized trampoline team of Jeffrey Gluckstein of Atlantic Highlands, N.J./Elite Trampoline Academy, and Aliaksei Shostak of Youngsville, La./Trampoline and Tumbling Express, earned the highest scores for their respective events during the all-around. The scores, which are based on the ranking of the competitive score, for the U.S. gymnasts who competed in the team all-around are: trampoline – Shostak, 3, and Nicole Ahsinger of Lafayette, La./Trampoline and Tumbling Express, 3; tumbling – Brown, 2, and Doudican, 5; double-mini – Ruben Padilla of Oakley, Calif./Wasatch Trampoline & Tumbling, 2, and Van Natta, 5; and synchronized trampoline – Gluckstein and Shostak, 5, and Ellen Heinen of Lafayette, La./Trampoline and Tumbling Express, and Kayttie Nakamura of Honolulu, Hawaii/Merino Trampoline Gymnastics Academy, 3.

Brown grabbed the men’s tumbling bronze medal with his 76.300 total in the final. His first pass of 39.100 was the second highest, and his second routine of 37.200 was part of a three-way tie for the third best score. Russia’s Aleksandr Lisitsyn won the title with his 78.700 (39.200; 39.500), with Elliott Browne of Great Britain in second at 77.200 (38.000; 39.200).

Van Natta just missed the women’s double mini-trampoline medal podium, finishing fourth. Her 68.100 was just 0.100 behind Russia’s Aleksandra Bonartseva’s 68.200 (33.400/34.800). Van Natta’s scores for the two routines were 33.900, the third best score, and 34.200, which was fourth highest. Sweden’s Lina Sjoeberg picked up the gold medal with her 69.000 (34.300/34.700), and the silver went to New Zealand’s Bronwyn Dibb at 68.800 (34.900/33.900).

The men’s and women’s trampoline titles went to Gao Lei of China (61.705) and Hikaru Mori of Japan (55.860), respectively.

Earlier in the championships, the United States won the women’s gold and men’s silver double mini-trampoline team medals, along with the men’s tumbling team bronze. Padilla and Alex Renkert of Columbus, Ohio/Integrity Athletics, won the silver and bronze men’s double mini-trampoline medals, respectively. Additionally, the USA qualified in men’s and women’s double mini-trampoline and tumbling for the 2021 World Games, scheduled for July 15-25 in Birmingham, Ala.

This year’s World Championships was part of the qualification process for the 2020 Olympic Games. Each country that has at least one athlete in the trampoline final will earn a berth to Tokyo. This means that up to eight spots for both the men and women are available, with a maximum of one gymnast per country. Additionally, World champions were determined in trampoline, synchronized trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline.
