IBAGUE, Colombia (December 11, 2023) – American gymnasts closed out the 2023 Acrobatic Gymnastics Pan American Championship with a whopping 24 medals on Sunday, finishing their South American run with 33 total medals over three days of competition.

The U.S. seniors contributed six gold medals on the final day, with the women’s pair of Mo Arthur (Rolla, Mo./Mid America Acro Tumbling) and Ariana Katsov (Owensville, Mo./Mid America Acro Tumbling), and the women’s group of Mariam Tutberidze (Owings Mills, Md./Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics and Cheer), Kayla Vonder Haar (Laurel, Md./Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics and Cheer) and Grace Vonder Haar (Laurel, Md./Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics and Cheer) sweeping their respective divisions. Arthur and Katsov took gold in balance (28.320), dynamic (26.210) and all-around (81.410), while Tutberidze and the Vonder Haars did the same in group balance (27.180), dynamic (27.790) and all-around (83.590).

Both pairs in 13-19 competition also earned three golds each to close out their Pan Am experience. The women’s duo of Sydney Padios (Moreno Valley, Calif./Incentive-AGT) and Willow Noble (Moreno Valley, Calif./Incentive-AGT) were top of the podium in balance (26.700), dynamic (26.800) and all-around (80.700). On the men’s side, Ethan Chang (Columbia, Md./Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics and Cheer) and David Vonder Haar (Laurel, Md./Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics and Cheer) also clinched balance (26.900), dynamic (24.270) and all-around (76.970) gold.

In the 12-18 division, the U.S. pairs and trios earned a total of four medals Sunday. The women’s pair of Maya Lissenknova (Las Vegas, Nev./AGC Las Vegas) and Bernice Moshos (Las Vegas, Nev./AGC Las Vegas) won all-around gold (80.150) to complete their podium sweep ahead of Puerto Rico (65.480) after winning balance and dynamic gold Saturday. Among the mixed pairs, Rylee Cummins (Moreno Valley, Calif./Incentive-AGT) and George Yeramishyn (Riverside, Calif./Incentive-AGT) once again topped the podium with an all-around score of 76.210 for gold to add to their gold medals earned on Day 2. Layla Lugo (Chandler, Ariz./Aspire Kids Sports Center) and Tyler Berg (Phoenix, Ariz./ Aspire Kids Sports Center) landed just behind them for silver with a 74.990.

The 12-18 group of Maddy Hunt (Crownsville, Md./International Elite), Avery Puleo (Arnold, Md./International Elite) and Anna Sullivan (Brookeville, Md./International Elite) claimed their third gold of the competition after scoring an 81.600. Canada’s Lauren Marttila, Jorden Diana and Karyzza Guillermo were second (78.850) and the second Canadian group of Amanda Chen, Kaitlyn Tofflemire and Sara Meneses third (77.560). Lilian Prumanov (Frisco, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics), Polina Bakman (McKinney, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics) and Kate Gorman (Plano, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics) landed just off the all-around podium in fourth with a 75.450.

The medals continued flowing in for the U.S., with the 11-16 age-group accounting for six medals on the final day of competition. The women’s pair of Leana Borodayev (North Highlands, Calif./Rodina Elite Gymnastics Academy) and Isabella Brookins (Sacramento, Calif. Rodina Elite Gymnastics Academy) won gold Sunday evening in both balance (26.200) and dynamic (26.100). The mixed pair of Faith Nicol (Pacific, Mo./Show Me Acro) and Peter Vonder Haar (Imperial, Mo./Show Me Acro) also claimed balance (24.050) and dynamic (23.800) gold, while the women’s group of Alani Do (San Diego, Calif./So Cal TT), Jordana Beyer (San Diego, Calif./So Cal TT) and Silver Weddle (Poway, Calif./So Cal TTC) took dynamic gold (25.600) and balance silver (26.350). There were no all-around finals for the 11-16 age-group.

The U.S. delegation also swept the team podiums in the 11-16 and 12-18/13-19 (Junior) divisions. Americans won the junior team award with a total score of 242.450 after routines from the 12-18 women’s group of Hunt, Puleo and Sullivan, the 12-18 women’s pair of Lissenkova and Moshos, and the 13-19 women’s pair of Padios and Noble. Posting an overall 11-16 team score of 149.700 for gold was the women’s pair of Borodayev and Brookins, the mixed pair of Nicol and Vonder Haar, and the women’s group of Do, Beyer and Weddle. Team scores were determined by the top three combined scores of a country per age-group.
