HOUSTON, May 21, 2008 — Sean Townsend of Houston, who competes for Team Chevron, has withdrawn from the 2008 Visa Championships due to a minor shoulder injury sustained during training. He will petition to the Men’s Program Committee to advance to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Gymnastics, May 19-22, in Philadelphia. The Men’s Program Committee will review and rule on petitions to the Trials.
“He subluxed his right shoulder and our doctors have suggested it needs about two weeks rest,” said Kevin Mazeika, Townsend’s coach. “We have submitted our petition to the Men’s Program Committee for Sean to advance to the Trials.”
