PUTIAN, China, April 2, 2016 – USA’s Jessica Renteria and Maren Merwarth, both of San Antonio, Texas/Acrobatic Gymnastics of San Antonio, placed fourth in the women’s pairs competition at the 2016 World Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships in Putian, China.

Renteria and Merwarth executed a powerful combined routine to score a 26.850, missing the podium by just .220. Topping the standings with 28.760 was Russia’s Daria Guryeva and Daria Kalinina, (28.760), followed by Belarus’ Marharyta Bartashevich and Victoryia Mikhnovich (27.575), and Belgium’s Laurie Philpott and Natascha Van Es (27.070).

In the mixed pairs competition, Tiffani Williams of Moreno Valley, Calif, and Axel Osborne of Beaumont, Calif., who both train at Realis Gymnastics Academy, remain in second place after two qualifying routines. Their dynamic exercise earned a 28.500 for a combined total of 56.670.

The United States’ women’s group of Londrea Garrett of Columbia Md., Josphina Kievsky of Elkridge, Md., and Mila Segel of Reisterstown, Md., who all train at Emilias Acro Gymnastics and Cheer, earned a 27.140 for their balance routine. The group is in 10th place with a two-routine total of 53.930.

The USA’s Savannah Bentley of Annapolis, Md., Hannah Silverman of Baltimore, Md., and Elise Stickley of Woodbine, Md., all of Emilia’s Acro Gymnastics and Cheer, also competed in today’s women’s group qualification. Their balance exercise garnered a 25.530 for a combined total of 51.650 and 13th place.
