George Szypula

George Szypula spent more than 50 years coaching gymnastics. In his 42 years as head coach at Michigan State University, he won 250 dual meets and tied Illinois for the NCAA title in 1958. A former tumbler for Temple University, Szypula wrote three books including Tumbling and Balancing for All, which is highly acclaimed.

Szypula served as President of the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches from 1957-1958 and founded the Helms Athletic Foundation Hall of Fame the same year. In 1970, Szypula was inducted into the Hall of Fame he founded. Additionally, Szypula is an NACGC Honor Coach.
