Daniel Hoffer

Daniel Hoffer’s tenure as head coach at the University of Chicago was monumental as his team won the first NCAA Championship in 1938, which the University of Chicago hosted as well. Hoffer was an inaugural Hall of Fame class inductee in 1959 and is the namesake of the annual D.L. Hoffer Memorial Award for the most outstanding gymnast at the University of Chicago. His career was defined by the championship, which he won shortly before his death mere months later.
