Charles Graves

A coach for more than 35 years, Charles “Charlie” Graves molded the men’s gymnastics program at the University of Southern California into a cradle of champions. He coached two Olympians and dozens of gymnasts in all areas of competition en route to USC’s first national title in 1938. Trojan squads added two more NCAA runner-up finishes in 1951 and 1952 and nine conference titles in Graves’ tenure. His career was also decorated with service to the Los Angeles area Gymnastic Judges Association and the NCAA Gymnastics Rules Committee.
