Bart Conner

Not only was Bart Conner an accomplished and decorated gymnast, but he was also a pioneer for the country’s status on the world stage of competitive gymnastics. He was named to the Olympic Teams in 1976 and 1980. He was a world champion on parallel bars in 1979 and was a three-time winner of the American Cup (1976, 1980, 1981). In 1984, Conner won a gold medal on parallel bars, the first event gold medalist (joining three others that year) for the U.S. since 1932. He also won the gold medal in the men’s team competition. For his accomplished career, Conner was the first American inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
