A beneficiary of being one of only 681 competitors in the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis, Bissinger collected his lone Olympic Medal when the US team took silver in the combined exercises. Bissinger, who also medaled twice in track and field at the 1904 Olympics, is believed to be one of the first to compete among US Gymnastics Hall of Fame inductees.
