VALENCIA, Spain (August 24, 2023) – Evita Griskenas (Orland Park, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics Center) and Lili Mizuno (Northbrook, Ill./North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics) closed out individual qualification competition Thursday morning at the Rhythmic World Championships in Spain.

Griskenas scored a 30.500 in clubs to place 14th, with Mizuno landing 23rd with a score of 29.850. Stiliana Nikolova of Bulgaria had the highest qualifying score of the day with a 34.450. In ribbon qualifications, Mizuno and Griskenas were 18th (30.100) and 24th (29.250), respectively, while Darja Varfolomeev of Germany was the top qualifier (32.850) into the final.

In the all-around, Griskenas finished 28th with a 91.000 overall and Mizuno 32nd with a 90.200. The top 18 gymnasts in all-around competition advanced to Saturday’s final in addition to four reserve athletes.

The U.S. Senior National Group will compete Friday in five hoops, three ribbons and two balls, and all-around qualifications, followed by finals. The group of Izzy Connor (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.), Gergana Petkova (Barrington, Ill.), Katrine Sakhnov (Glencoe, Ill.), Karolina Saverino (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) and Hana Starkman (Deerfield, Ill.) are set begin their day at noon ET.
