SANTIAGO, Chile (October 23, 2023) – Kayla DiCello (Boyds, Md./Hill’s Gymnastics) won the gold, while Jordan Chiles (Vancouver, Wash./World Champions Centre) and Donnell Whittenburg (Baltimore, Md./Salto Gymnastics Center) each claimed bronze for Team USA in all-around competition Monday at the 2023 Pan American Games.
DiCello won the women’s all-around with a 54.699, thanks to posting the highest scores of the evening on uneven bars (13.633) and floor exercise (13.733) and scoring a 13.200 on balance beam and 14.133 on vault. Brazil’s Flavia Saraiva was second with a 54.565, and Chiles was third with a 53.999, including the top score on vault with a 14.300.
Earlier in the day during men’s competition, Whittenburg secured bronze in the all-around with a score of 81.764, with his top performance coming on still rings with a score of 14.566. Canada’s Felix Dolci won gold with an 82.531 and Brazil’s Diogo Soares took silver with an 81.865. American Cameron Bock (Tustin, Calif./University of Michigan) put up a combined 80.698 to land just off the podium in fourth.
The penultimate day of Pan Am competition begins at 4 p.m. ET with the first round of apparatus finals. A full breakdown of athletes competing in each final on Tuesday is below.
