LOS ANGELES – Preseason No. 1 UCLA hung on in the last rotation to squeak out a season-opening 196.075-196.025 victory over No. 5 Utah Sunday afternoon at a sold-out John Wooden Center.

#3 Florida 196.025, North Carolina State 194.675 – Jan. 6, 2012
RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State gymnastics kicked off the season with a 194.675, but came up shy of the nationally third-ranked Florida Gators Friday night in Reynolds Coliseum.

#4 Oklahoma 195.875, Kentucky 194.325, Bowling Green 188.925, UW-Oshkosh 174.725 – Jan. 7, 2012
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 23 University of Kentucky gymnastics team kicked off the opening night of the Tim Garrison Era in fine fashion Saturday, finishing second at the Kentucky Classic event with a team score of 194.325.

#9 Georgia 196.525, #20 Denver 193.700 – Jan. 6, 2012
ATHENS, Ga. — Noel Couch won her first all-around with a score of 39.275 to lead the No. 9 Georgia Gym Dogs (1-0) as they defeated the No. 20 Denver Pioneers (0-1) 196.525-193.700 in the season opener Friday night.

Cancun Classic – #11 Arkansas 196.450, #19 Arizona 195.150, #17 Auburn 194.775, Iowa 193.875, #12 LSU 192.500 – Jan. 6, 2012
CANCUN, Mexico – Arkansas’ gymnastics team opened its season with a school-record team score for an opener and claimed the meet title at the five-team Cancun Classic on Friday.

#13 Penn State 195.775, West Virginia 195.100, Maryland 194.225 – Jan. 8, 2012
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team opened its 2012 season in record-setting fashion, scoring 195.1 and finishing in second place in today’s home tri-meet at the WVU Coliseum in front of 1,041 fans.

#16 Washington 193.175, Michigan State 191.875 – Jan. 6, 2012
EAST LANSING, Mich.- The Michigan State gymnastics team kicked off the regular season at Jenison Field House against No. 16 Washington on Friday, Jan. 6. The Spartans fought hard but were unable to come away with a victory, falling to the Huskies 193.175-191.875.

#18 Ohio State 195.375, Minnesota 195.075 – Jan.7, 2012
MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota women’s gymnastics team opened the 2012 season with a bang as they proved to be near mid-season form by scoring an impressive 195.075 Saturday night at the Sports Pavilion.
