Acrobatics & Tumbling Athletes of the Week – April 2-7, 2024

National

Athlete of the Week
Riley Chimwala – Baylor
Chimwala, a senior base from Plano, Texas, competed in 10 heats and team event as Baylor topped Oregon in the matchup of top 5 teams over the weekend. Chimwala’s performance was highlighted by 10 scores of 9.55 or higher, including a 9.95 in the inversion pyramid and a 9.90 in four heats, including the compulsory toss, five-element acro, synchronized pyramid and open pyramid.

Specialist of the Week
Summer Knoell – Quinnipiac
Knoell, a senior from Sea Cliff, N.Y., was a standout in the tumbling event for Quinnipiac during its win over Gannon. Her standout performance included a 9.925 in the six-element tumbling pass, and a 9.80 in the duo tumbling pass. The 9.925 in her individual tumbling pass is a season- and career-high.

Freshman of the Week
Payton Washington – Baylor
Washington, a top and tumbler from Round Rock, Texas, competed in eight heats and team event for Baylor last week. Her performance was highlighted by six scores of 9.55 or higher, including a trio of 9.90 scores (compulsory toss, acro five-element and synchronized pyramid) and a 9.875 in the six-element tumbling pass.

Athlete of the Week
Savannah Duckworth – Glenville State
Duckworth, a sophomore top and tumbler from Worthington, W.Va., competed in 11 heats and team event for the Pioneers last week. Her performance was highlighted by five scores of 9.60 or higher, including a 9.85 in open pyramid and a 9.625 in aerial tumbling.
