Acrobatics & Tumbling Athletes of the Week – March 11-16, 2024

Awards are given by NCATA and conference offices. More will be added throughout the week as they become available.

National

Athlete of the Week
Tiffany Zieba – Quinnipiac
Zieba, a senior base and tumbler from Succasunna, New Jersey, seven heats and team event as Quinnipiac picked up a pair of dual meet victories over Azusa Pacific and Oregon last week. In 14 total heats, she helped the Bobcats to 10 scores of 9.50 or higher, including a perfect-10 in open pyramid and 9.90 in compulsory pyramid. She was also a standout in the tumbling event scoring a 9.85 and 9.80 in the open tumbling pass for the Bobcats last week.

Specialist of the Week
Hallie Fowler – Quinnipiac
Fowler, a junior base from Gulf Breeze, Florida, was a standout in the pyramid event for Quinnipiac last week. In two dual meets, she recorded four scores of 9.75 or higher in the event. In the inversion pyramid heat, Fowler helped QU to a score of 9.90 against Azusa Pacific and 9.75 against Oregon. In the open pyramid, Fowler and the Bobcats scored a 9.90 against APU and a 9.95 versus UO.

Freshman of the Week
Alex DeAngelis – Gannon
DeAngelis, a base and tumbler from Audubon, New Jersey, completed in seven heats and team event for Gannon last week. In the win over Fairmont State, DeAngelis helped the Knights to seven scores of 9.55 or higher, including a 9.90 in the compulsory toss and inversion pyramid heats.

Conference Carolinas

Athlete of the Week
Kaylin Francavilla – Coker
Francavilla competed in eight heats and team event this past Saturday night. Her performance was highlighted by a 9.5 out of 10.00 in compulsory pyramid, a 9.50 out 9.80 in inversion pyramid and a 9.50 out of 10.00 in the synchronized pyramids as well as a season high score of an 8.60 out of 9.10 in the Trio Tumbling heat. Throughout the meet, her contributions helped the team to pick up wins in the acro event and toss event against Limestone and Mars Hill. She also helped the Cobras to tie in the pyramid event against Limestone beating Mars Hill.

Specialist of the Week
Lauren Pipes – Belmont Abbey
In the pyramid event, Pipes is a top in the synchronized pyramid heat that scored a 9.75 out of 10.00 where she competes a straddle with a 270 flip down. She also tops the open heat and scored a 9.85 out of 10.00 where she competes a pike to a 360 flip off.

Mountain East Conference

Athlete of the Week
Navah Marierose – Frostburg State
Marierose, a senior base and tumbler from Gambrills, Md., competed in 12 heats and team event for Frostburg State last week. She helped the Bobcats record the program’s first-ever perfect-10 in the compulsory pyramid, while also turning in a pair of 9.90 scores in the synchronized and open pyramid heats. In all, Marierose helped FSU record eight scores of 9.50 or higher.
