Acrobatics & Tumbling Athletes of the Week – Feb. 26-March 3, 2024

National

Athlete of the Week
Ali Price – Gannon
Price, a senior top and tumbler from New Paris, Pa., competed in 12 heats and team event for the Knights. Her performance was highlighted by 10 scores of 9.50 or higher – including a 9.85 in acro five-element and open pyramid, while also scoring a 9.725 in the aerial tumbling pass.

Specialist of the Week
Payten Semenske – Glenville State
Semenske, a junior from Statesville, N.C., was a standout in the pyramid for Glenville State this week against Trine. Her performance was highlighted by two scores of 9.95 in the inverstion and synchronized pyramid heats. She also competed in open pyramid, which scored a 9.80.

Freshman of the Week
Alex DeAngelis – Gannon
DeAngelis, a base and tumbler from Audubon, N.J., competed in seven heats and team event for Gannon this week. Each of her seven heats scored a 9.50 or higher, including a 9.75 in the compulsory pyramid and toss heats.

Athlete of the Week
Ryann Swope – Lander
A junior top/tumbler from Twin Falls, Idaho, Ryann Swope of Lander had a standout meet in a team win over 14th-ranked Converse. In the compulsory event, Swope helped the Bearcats score a 35.7/40. In the acro event, Swope scored a 9.6/10.0, beating Converse’s score of 8.4 to earn Lander over a point lead in the 5 element acro by performing a skill that she is the only person performing in the NCATA. Lander also came out on top of the acro event by scoring over two points higher than Converse. In the pyramid event, Swope helped the Bearcats score a 9.55/10 over Converse’s 7.5/10 to increase the separation between the team scores. In the toss event, Swope scored an impressive 9.7/9.9 in the 450 salto pass to give Lander a half a point advantage over Converse, who scored a 9.2. In the tumbling event, Swope scored a 9.6/10.0 in her aerial tumbling pass to best Converse’s score of a 9.475 in the heat.

Specialist of the Week
Morgan Bramble – Limestone
A junior base/tumbler from Fairfax, Virginia, Morgan Bramble of Limestone competed in all three pyramids in a tri-meet team win for seventh-ranked Limestone over Francis Marion and King. She scored a 9.4 and above in all three events. Bramble competed as a main base and a mid base within all heats. In the inversion pyramid, she was a main base in which Limestone scored a 9.8. In the synchronized pyramid, Bramble was a main base, scoring a 9.45 In the open pyramid, Bramble helped by being the mid base, scoring a 9.8. Limestone earned a 29.05/30.0 with the help of Bramble in the pyramid event.

Athlete of the Week
Payten Semenske – Glenville State
Semenske, a junior from Statesville, N.C., competed in nine heats during yesterday’s victory over Trine as the Pioneers picked up a 261.425-229.755 victory. The base helped GSU set seven new season-high scores, including five scores of 9.50 or higher. Her performance was highlighted in the Pyramid Event, scoring a 9.95 in both the inversion and synchronized heats, as well as a 9.80 in the open heat.
